Experience the natural spectacle
in the Serengeti

Tarangire National Park

Today you will visit Tarangire National Park, known for its large families of elephants and bizarre looking baobab trees. The animals gather at the Tarangire River to drink. At noon you will have a lunch box prepared by the lodge at a beautiful viewpoint in the park. In the early evening you will arrive at Maramboi Tented Lodge, which is just outside the park. All kinds of animals can be observed from your terrace in front of the tent on a wooden platform. If you want to quench your urge to move, swim a few laps in the great swimming pool.

DAY 3

Lake Maranya National Park

Continue to Lake Manyara National Park, which consists largely of a lake and is home to flamingos, pelicans, herons and other waterfowl. The hippos in the hippo pool, which constantly fight for their territory, are a highlight of the park. Great hordes of monkeys run around screeching, carrying their children on their stomachs or on their backs. With a bit of luck you can spot the tree lions. A picnic gives you some rest and you drive out again strengthened for further animal observations. In the evening you arrive at Karatu Country Lodge, which is hidden in a pretty garden. This lodge also has a swimming pool.
Overnight: Karatu Country Lodge

DAY 4

Serengeti National Park

The drive continues over the Ngorongoro highlands along the crater rim, from where you have a good overview of the park, down into the endless savannah, the Serengeti. You will be greeted by various animals in front of Naabi Hill Gate. There is also the opportunity to visit a Maasai village. Arrive at your accommodation in central Serengeti for lunch. You will then go on a game drive in this area populated by a wide variety of animal species. Spend the night in a romantic tented camp.

DAY 5

Serengeti National Park

With an early morning game drive at 06:30 you will see how the savannah wakes up and the animals happily greet the day. After breakfast we head out again, this time to more remote areas. Your driver/guide has already asked his colleagues where special sightings can be observed today. At the picnic in Seronera you will learn something about the history of the park and the work of the Frankfurt Zoological Society, which goes back to German zoologist Bernhard Grzimek. In the evening, tell other guests about your experiences of the day around the campfire.
Overnight Kati Kati Tented Camp

DAY 6

Serengeti National Park

Depending on the season, drive today to the South (December - February), west (March - May) or North (June - September) of the Serengeti, where the large herds of wildebeest and zebra can be found at the appropriate times of the year. Hundreds of thousands of these animals migrate clockwise across the plains in search of suitable food and water. During their pregnancy, the animals need appropriate nutrients and minerals, which can be found in the different areas. You go - after consultation with your driver/guide - on an early morning safari and on all-day game drives. Of course, these large herds also attract predators, for which the table is richly and variedly set. During the picnic, surrounded by the constant sounds of animals, a wonderful, apparently peaceful calm settles over you. At night you can hear wildebeests, hyenas, lions and towards morning the first hesitant, then louder bird calls. Of course, these sounds are particularly impressive in a tented lodge.
December - February: Overnight: Lake Masek Tented Lodge
March – May: Overnight: Lahia Tented Lodge
June – September: Overnight: Mara Mara Tented Lodge

DAY 7

Serengeti National Park

Full day game drive inside the world famous Serengeti. If you visit the Serengeti between December and March you can witness the migration in the southern plains of the Serengeti. This time of the year the wildebeest give birth to their calves, which makes it one of the most thrilling travel times to experience the migration.
December - February: Overnight: Lake Masek Tented Lodge
March – May: Overnight: Lahia Tented Lodge
June – September: Overnight: Mara Mara Tented Lodge

DAY 8

Serengeti National Park

Full day game drive inside the Serengeti. Probably the most popular travel time for witnessing the wildebeest herds is July until September, as it is not only the world's main travel period, but also the time when the wildebeest have to manage the dangerous river crossings at Grumeti and Mara River in northern Serengeti. These spectacular but highly risky crossings not always end well, as strong currents and hungry crocodiles make it extremely difficult for the thousands of wildebeest trying to reach the plains of Masai Mara in Kenya.
December - February: Overnight: Lake Masek Tented Lodge
March – May: Overnight: Lahia Tented Lodge
June – September: Overnight: Mara Mara Tented Lodge

DAY 9

Serengeti National Park

Slowly say goodbye to the Serengeti today and head towards Ngorongoro on a game drive that takes up most of the day. In the afternoon you reach Naabi Hill Gate again, the vehicle climbs up to 2,300 meters to the Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, located directly on the crater rim, where you will spend the night. If the clouds allow it, you will experience a picturesque evening atmosphere over the crater. While Serena Lodge is quite large, it is ideally located on the access road to the crater, so you don't waste time getting there the next morning.
Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge

DAY 10

Ngorongoro Crater

Today Ngorongoro Crater is on the agenda. You overcome 600 meters of altitude in your private safari vehicle and reach the crater floor, which has an impressive 21 km in diameter. Lions, buffalo, elephants and many more have lived in this huge amphitheater for centuries, practically cut off from the outside world. You have the chance to meet one of the few rhinos. Stretch your legs a bit with a picnic at Lake Magadi, but watch out for birds that would love to share your meal. In the evening you come back "home" to the well-known Karatu Country Lodge, where a delicious dinner, lovingly prepared by the owner, awaits you.
Overnight: Karatu Country Lodge

DAY 11

Day of departure

Today you can sleep a little longer than the previous days, as your return flight leaves Kilimanjaro Airport in the evening. Your driver/guide will take you to Arumeru River Lodge for lunch, where you will also have a day room. Well rested and refreshed, you will be taken to the airport in the early evening for your flight home.
