Our safari SWALA is a shortened safari through the northern parks, in which no visit to the Serengeti National Park is planned. The highlight of this itinerary is the last day inside Ngorongoro Crater. During this safari you will experience four different national parks with always changing landscapes, which will enrich you safari with a large density of animals. SWALA is very popular with guests who are already in Tanzania, be it for professional or private reasons, and would like to experience a short safari starting in Arusha.

DAY 1

Day of arrival

There are several daily flight connections from around the world to Tanzania. Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport. From the airport, your private driver/guide, who is already waiting for you, will take you to your lodge, 45 minutes from the airport. Depending on your arrival time, you still have time today to visit the nearby rainforest or a coffee farm.

DAY 2

Arusha National Park

After breakfast you will get to know your driver/guide, who will be available to you for the next 5 days from today and will drive with you to nearby Arusha National Park. The small park at the foot of 4,565 meter high Mount Meru, with great views of Kilimanjaro (5,895 m) stands for the greatest density of giraffes in Tanzania. In addition to the impressive landscape, you will of course also find many other African wild animals such as buffalo , wildebeest, zebra and with a bit of luck also elephants. Around midday, enjoy a box lunch prepared by the lodge and stay until late afternoon on a game drive through the park before returning to your lodge.

DAY 3

Tarangire National Park

Your driver/guide will be waiting for you at the reception after breakfast and load your luggage, because today you will travel on to the next accommodation and the next national park. Tarangire National Park stands for its elephant families and the bizarre baobab trees. As the Tarangire River carries water all year round, it attracts a lot of wildlife to drink. There is always a chance to see a pride of lions here. On a small hilltop in the park you will have your picnic lunch, which the lodge will provide for you. You will spend the whole day on a game drive through Tarangire until the early evening, when you arrive at your new accomodation.

DAY 4

Lake Manyara National Park

08:00 On your third day of safari drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The small park is a true paradise for bird lovers, as it is home to over 400 different bird species. The lake in the national park is also home to thousands of flamingos. Enjoy your lunch box near the lake and continue your game drive until around 16:00. In the afternoon drive towards the Ngorongoro Highlands via the Great Rift Valley to the small town of Karatu.

DAY 5

Ngorongoro Crater

The highlight of your short safari through Northern Tanzania today is your descent into the Ngorongoro Crater floor. Its 21 kilometer diameter, the crater walls up to 600 m high and last but not least the approximately 25,000 wild animals make the Ngorongoro Crater a unique natural spectacle. Around 16:30 you leave the crater floor and drive back up to Ngorongoro crater rim. The evening is at your leisure at the lodge, where you will enjoy a breathtaking view down into the crater.

DAY 6

Day of departure

Today you can sleep a little longer than the previous days, as your return flight leaves Kilimanjaro Airport in the evening. Your driver/guide will take you to Arumeru River Lodge for lunch, where you will also have a day room. Well rested and refreshed, you will be taken to the airport in the early evening for your flight home.
